Primal Moments

Sometimes all you need is a moment

A moment of primal animal desperation

That you despise yet inevitable

Vindictive in nature, in the grand scheme of life

To the coherence that is the chaos of you

Emanating all around you

Engulfing the past and the present

To a future predetermined

In contradiction to your chaos

In spite of all that you know

The sum of all my life lay in paths

Winding forward and backwards

The future and the past coalesce

Into this one moment of clarity

Moment by moment the fog clears

To a moment that seemed like eternity

One single moment, one single step

To define how to break the circle

Reflections of the choices made and to make

To return to what once was lost

A primal need to be wholesome

The choice had made itself clear

Like a snake uncoiling itself

The path led on to a brightness and light

Although bereft of color still

Grasping to break the monochromatic night ahead
